• Multimedia exhibition with night floor

Experience a night in the Palatinate Forest, meet the Palatinate lions, and take a look at the world through the eyes of various animals – the multimedia exhibition in the biosphere house takes you on an exciting field trip through the biosphere reserve.

On four floors the attractive exhibition presents basics and special aspects of the biosphere for big and small visitors. Many different interactive stations invite you to explore and play, and all information is presented in German, French and English.

For young children there is a suitable play area on every floor, and school classes can book a rally in which they have to answer questions and solve problems in small teams.

  • Sandstone

Enigmatic rock sculptures, dim caves, mystical castle ruins occupied by various kinds of animals.

The sandstone in the biosphere reserve offers it all. On the first floor of the exhibition you can get a closer look at this fascinating type of rock and its significance for humans and nature.

  • Water

Whether as springs, ponds or creeks – water is present in the biosphere reserve in a variety of forms.

On the second floor of the exhibition you can make springs bubble at the push of a button or native amphibians present a frogs’ chorus, and a submarine stands ready to take you on an underwater exploration.

  • Open landscape

Over 70% of the cross-border biosphere reserve is covered with woods. Open creek valleys run through this thick forest like veins.

By pictures, info columns and games the exhibition demonstrates the beauty of these landscape elements and the threats they face.

  • Night

The owl hoots and the bat darts noiselessly through the night sky of the Palatinate Forest.

In the night floor exhibition the darkness and its atmosphere, its sounds and its eerie furtive residents come to life.

  • Senses

Some animals perceive their surroundings completely differently than we humans.

The “sense boxes” on the fourth floor of the exhibition allow you to slip inside the head of a bee, an owl or a spider. And there are many more exciting objects to see, hear, smell and touch.
